That coffee with Irish crème, a touch of caramel syrup, sprinkled with bits of cinnamon can turn your coffee into a high calorie dessert. The coffee may cost you a good penny, but the calories will cost you even more, at least 500-650 calories more with 20-25grams of fat. Moreover, avoid the coffees with the words “pre-made base” and “cream.”
Sodas
Soda has taken a bad rap lately, and with good reason. It’s nothing but sugar water. There’s no nutritional value. Moreover, sodas can lead to diabetes, obesity, memory loss, and a litany of other ailments. Just drinking a soda everyday for six-months can induce a 142% increase in liver-fat, 117% to 221% boost in skeletal fat, and approximately 30% increase in organ fat and triglyceride blood-fats. Just forget it!
Cocktails
A night out on the town could leave you worse for wear in more ways than one if you’ve been out drinking. Some of the worse cocktail offenders include margaritas, pina coladas, and white Russians. These types of drinks have ingredients like coconut milk and cream with plenty of sugar. A pina colada alone will hit you with 700 calories. Energy DrinksFlavored Waters
Flavored waters are enticing due to their claims of added vitamins and other nutrients. It’s all a trick. Though they may be full of vitamins and nutrients, they are full of sugar as well. For example, one well-known flavored water packs 150 calories with 30g of sugar, which is absurd for something as healthful as water.
In some instances, flavored water vitamins are also fat-soluble. Because the water itself has zero calories, it is somewhat debatable whether the body can ingest a sizeable amount of vitamins like A and E.
If you must have a bottle of flavored water, read the label prior to making your purchase. More times than not, the sugar content will leave you worse for wear and drinking plain water would be the best trade-off. You can always get the right amount of nutrients in other ways.
Energy Drinks
Energy drinks may be the latest craze in pick-me-up beverages, but if staying healthy is important to you, there’s more you need to know about them besides their caffeine content. For example, you will find energy drinks with as much as 280 calories and 62grams of sugar, making them unhealthier than a can of soda. Add this drink with other food and beverages you consume throughout the day and you end up with way more than the advised daily limit for sugar intake.
Furthermore, besides causing blood sugar to become dangerously high and encouraging weight gain, the FDA has warned that excessive drinking of these beverages could possibly be fatal. In fact, in late 2012, it was assessed that 5 fatalities and 40 illnesses were caused by one popular energy drink, and 2 serious disabilities and 13 illnesses was caused by another.
Additional reports state that energy drinks have been responsible for strokes, irregular heartbeat, loss of consciousness, heart attacks, and psychotic episodes. If you must have a boost during your day, choose coffee over an energy drink. Not only will you consume less calories with a “regular” coffee, you will preserve your health as well.
Apple Juice
It may be a surprise that apple juice is mentioned on this list. For many, apples are a nutritious, delicious treat. However, the beverage is another story. An 8oz glass or bottle of juice awards you 117 calories and 28 grams of carbohydrates. Those numbers can add up. A glass of apple juice may be fine now and then, but shouldn’t become a favorite.

Pizza
